Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the thrilling jousting and energetic show, highlighting the immersive medieval atmosphere and the fun of cheering for their chosen knight. The hands-on dining experience and generous portions are also frequently mentioned positives, making it a memorable outing for families and groups. However, some guests found the food quality inconsistent, particularly the main course, and noted that photo opportunities could be more engaging.

"We went with a group of friends, all from the United Kingdom, none of us have ever been to this sorts of show, and oh my, the cheering and chanting for our colour champion was just amazing and entertaining! Really added a lot to the atmosphere and the overall experience! I wasn't a big fan of the main meal as my chicken was very dry, but overall the quality was really good, the portions are royal and they offered to pack it up so you could take it home with you. Very friendly service. We had an absolute blast!!

We had a VIP package which included some photos. This was a bit awkward as we got 0 instructions or directions from the photographer, other than "stand here" and "we make 2 photos". Could have been a great opportunity if the photographer interacted a bit more on what kind of pose/ group pictures we wanted. 😊"

Lindy Edwards (Lindy)

"Fun for any occasion, not just a birthday or anniversary. Be prepared for a fun and engaging show, and you may just get a flower thrown to you. Show up an hour before to enjoy pre show festivities, pay for upgrades (seating, photos- worth it, being knighted, and other souvenirs), enjoy drinks, and see the horses and falcons in their stalls (behind clear wall).

Good traditional meal that’s made well. Great drinks, and desert was a simple eclair. Part of an upgrade is birthday cake, and I believe it’s a slice of vanilla with chocolate or Boston cream- I didn’t eat mine and traded for more soul with my neighbor 😜.

Bathrooms are nice and clean. Atmosphere is engaging and tribal (to your knight’s color!), and photos are welcome. Military discount for original tickets was great. Inside, it’s all on you for any upgraded purchases. Overall, fun memory for everyone."

"It was a spur of the moment, end of our vacation decision to go check out this performance. We had two parents, a teen and a 5 year old in our party, and all four of us enjoyed the event. The food was well seasoned, and our squire was courteous and swift. Overall, it was a fun evening for the whole family!"

The Immersive Medieval Experience

Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament aims to transport you back to a bygone era. From the moment you enter the castle-like venue, the atmosphere is designed to evoke medieval Europe. The architecture, costumes, and the enthusiastic performances all contribute to this immersive journey. The core of the experience is the jousting tournament, where knights clad in armor compete in thrilling displays of skill and bravery. You'll be assigned a section of the arena, each representing a different knight, encouraging lively cheering and friendly rivalry among guests. Instagram+1

Beyond the jousting, the show incorporates elements of horsemanship and falconry, showcasing the talents of both the performers and their animal companions. The narrative woven throughout the performance adds a layer of drama and excitement, keeping audiences engaged for the entire two-hour duration. It’s a full sensory experience, designed to be entertaining for all ages, making it a popular choice for families and groups looking for a unique night out. InstagramReddit

Community Tip: Many visitors recommend arriving at least an hour before the show to fully soak in the atmosphere, explore the stables where you can see the horses and falcons, and potentially purchase upgrades or souvenirs. This also helps avoid the rush for restrooms and concessions before the main event begins. Reddit

The Royal Feast: A Hands-On Affair

The dining experience at Medieval Times is as much a part of the show as the jousting. You'll be served a hearty, four-course meal in a banquet hall setting. The menu typically includes garlic bread, tomato bisque soup, roasted chicken, sweet buttered corn, herb-basted potatoes, and a pastry for dessert. The key element of this feast is that it's designed to be eaten with your hands, a nod to medieval dining customs. While this might be a novel experience for some, it adds to the authenticity and fun of the evening. InstagramReddit+1

While the food is generally well-received for its generous portions and traditional flavors, some reviews mention the chicken can occasionally be dry. However, the overall consensus is that the meal complements the show well. Vegetarian options are usually available upon request when booking, ensuring most guests can enjoy the feast. Non-alcoholic beverages are typically included and refilled, with alcoholic drinks available for purchase. Reddit

Community Tip: Don't be shy about eating with your hands – it's part of the fun! If you have dietary restrictions, be sure to inform them when you book your tickets to ensure they can accommodate you. Also, consider the timing of your restroom breaks, as getting up during the show can be difficult due to the seating arrangement. Reddit

Making the Most of Your Visit: Upgrades and Tips

Medieval Times offers various ways to enhance your experience through upgrades. These can include better seating closer to the action, photo packages to capture memories, and special celebration packages for birthdays or anniversaries. The Queen's Royalty package is often highlighted as being well worth the extra cost for those celebrating a special occasion, as it includes a personalized greeting and a birthday cake. InstagramReddit

Beyond the official upgrades, practical tips from visitors can significantly improve your visit. Arriving early is crucial for a relaxed experience, allowing time to explore and avoid queues. Consider where you park to ease your departure after the show. During the show, actively participate by cheering for your knight; this engagement is a key part of the entertainment. Reddit

Community Tip: Many visitors suggest that while the show is entertaining on its own, the upgrades can elevate the experience, especially for special occasions. However, even without upgrades, the core show and meal provide a memorable time. Reddit
