Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Colonial Pemaquid for its beautiful coastal scenery, making it a picturesque spot for picnics and quiet contemplation. The reconstructed fort and historical settlement foundations offer a compelling glimpse into early American life. However, some visitors have reported negative experiences with museum staff, particularly concerning service animal policies.

"The fact that there were so many artists painting the view should give you an idea of how beautiful it is. Like a New England postcard. Perfect for picnicking. Quiet. The water is so clear. You can rent kayaks and paddleboards. Will definitely visit again."

Stef Carter

"The fort was awesome….but I have to give this a one star due to the big bearded fellow behind the desk at the entrance of the museum is severely uneducated. The sign at the fort had more knowledge than he does as it knows the laws about service dogs and he does not. He told us no dogs allowed even though the sign at the fort itself said no dogs allowed but service dogs allowed. Our dog who was wearing her service vest with it clearly called out on her vest. He then goes to tell my family that seeing eye dogs are allowed… are you kidding me this guy would make for a better door stop.

Long story short check out the fort if you are in the area but don’t waste your time at the museum especially if you have a service dog."

"We enjoyed a quiet Kayaking experience and a little meandering in the cemetery, the museum unfortunately wasn't ooen."
