Guests who stood to try to see the stage were threatened with removal by police. This was not only inappropriate but also disrespectful to families trying to witness an important moment.
Many attendees walked out immediately after their graduate’s name was called due to the poor conditions and structure of the event.
Overall, the event felt chaotic and unworthy of the legacy and reputation of the oldest HBCU in Maryland.
This event was meant to be a celebration of academic achievement. Instead, it left many families disappointed and embarrassed. I hope that the university will take this feedback seriously and commit to delivering a more organized, inclusive, and dignified experience in the future."
