It's highlighted as a great family-friendly activity, with special events like Story Time Trains being a hit with kids. Some visitors noted that the museum itself is small, and wished more cars were accessible, but overall found the experience to be enjoyable and a good value.
"Fantastic staff! We loved the scenic train ride. Very reasonable prices and discounts for the military. We loved our visit here. They have picnic areas, bathrooms and souvenir shop. You can walk through some of the trains as well. Highly recommend"

"Stopped through on our way to the Hoover Dam. They have some cool rail cars stationed there on the tracks, but unfortunately, although we got there before 3:30 PM on the day they indicated they were open till then (called) but we couldn’t get into any of them. They were all closed except the postal office car. It was still fun to walk around and see the outside of the cars that were there, but there’s not a huge amount of them but the ones that are there are nicely done. $2 donation per person."

"Great place for locals and visitors alike, to spend an afternoon at, especially if you are a lover of everything trains. Are you a Sheldon Cooper, then this place is for you. There is a large parking lot adjacent to the museum as well as several restrooms, a green area with picnic tables (covered and uncovered), a gift shop, a ticket office to purchase train tickets, and a model railroad car. There is a modest fee charged for entry into the museum and if you wish to take one of the 3-4 daily train rides. The out-and-back train ride takes approximately 45 minutes and travels to the I11 overpass in Henderson, where it stops for several minutes before returning to the museum. For all you veterans out there, the train ride is free so make sure to take advantage of this wonderful offer. The ride is nothing spectacular and you have the option of sitting inside a railroad car or sitting in the covered open-air railroad car. Regardless of your choice, the ride is well worth the time and low price and is great fun for families and those who love to ride trains."
