What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Big City Kids is a highly praised indoor playground offering a unique miniature town experience for children's imaginative play. Visitors love the clean environment, engaging activities, and the parent-friendly cafe. However, some reviews note that crowd control can be an issue during busy periods, potentially leading to less-than-ideal interactions between children of different age groups.
"The absolute cutest place for kids to play!! My nephew was in town and we brought him here and he had the best time! Such an interactive and unique idea/experience for the kids. From playing fire fighter, to police man, to construction worker, there is so much for them to play with and do. 2 hour play time for 20$ at different times throughout the day, must reserve a spot online and parents are free! Very clean, no shoes in the play area, bring grippy socks or you can buy them there! Small snacks/drinks/coffees are also available for adults and kids."

"I have been going to Big City since opening on Sundays while my son swims, and its a wonderful space, with great toys and a clean environment. Good latte too(around $7).
However, the more popular it gets the less crowd control there is. Last week a 7yo tackled my less than 2 year old causing a huge bruise on her head and a 30 min crying fit. (It was bad and she has an older brother so not a delicate kid). That was after I asked her to be careful with the smaller kids. Another group of bigger kids closed access to one of the slides and were not allowing smaller kids to use it.
It’s one shared space so these things are bound to happen but the people in admin do not step in at any point. The toys are for kids 1-4, the middle playground for 4-7 or so but bigger kids play differently in the same space. There is one space for babies less than 1, but the rest is open. I asked for ice for my daughters head and they didnt even ask why it was needed.
So unfortunately I will be going elsewhere when its so crowded until my daughter head can take a hit 🥲 or they improve the dynamics.
Edit: they reached out to me and seemed concerned about the situation."

The detailed environments, from the police station with its own desk and siren to the salon with miniature hair tools, encourage realistic role-playing. This type of play is crucial for child development, helping them understand social interactions, problem-solving, and emotional expression. The setup is designed to be intuitive, allowing children to lead their own adventures and create unique stories within the safe confines of the play space.
Parents often highlight how engrossed their children become in these imaginative activities. The ability to switch between different roles and settings within the same visit keeps the experience fresh and engaging. It's a fantastic way for kids to learn through doing, making the educational aspect of play both fun and effective.
Parent Experience and Amenities
This thoughtful amenity allows parents to take a much-needed break, catch up with friends, or simply enjoy a quiet moment while their children are safely entertained. The availability of snacks and treats further enhances the parent experience. The fact that adults and children under one year old enter for free is also a significant plus, making it a more accessible option for families.
While the overall parent experience is highly positive, some reviews mention potential issues with crowd control during peak times, where interactions between children of different ages might require more active supervision from staff. However, the venue has reportedly been responsive to feedback, aiming to improve the dynamics for all visitors.
Navigating Crowds and Safety
To manage this, it's crucial to book your play sessions online in advance. This timed entry system helps regulate the number of visitors at any given time. The venue also enforces a 'no shoes' policy in the play areas, requiring grippy socks for everyone to ensure hygiene and safety.
While the space is designed for imaginative play, parents are encouraged to supervise their children. In instances of rough play, the venue's administration is expected to step in, though some reviews suggest a need for more proactive intervention during busy periods. The dedicated baby zone offers a safer, more controlled environment for the youngest visitors.
