What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Virginia Tech for its beautiful, walkable campus, strong sense of community, and excellent academic programs. The 'Hokie Spirit' is frequently mentioned as a highlight, creating a welcoming and engaging atmosphere. While the campus beauty is a major draw, some may find the town of Blacksburg to be small.
"The food, the community, and the education are all amazing. However, I think the best part is the campus’ beauty. It helps that it is its own campus, not mixed with downtown like some other schools. It helps make the campus student friendly, making it easy to get to classes on foot.
The campus also has a lot of nature. Good amount of wildlife (squirrels, rabbits, birds, ducks, geese) and a lot of green trees and bushes. However, when spring comes, a lot of plants surprise you with flowers. This is when I believe the VT campus is the most beautiful."

"Beautiful campus. The architecture building is full of wonderful projects and brilliant students. Ask about the mobile house they built that is now in Dubai."

"I am a 1999 graduate of Virginia Tech. I lived my first 2 years in the U Quad, with the ROTC kids, even though I was not ROTC. I did like the location living up there. I didn't have a vehicle until my senior year when I lived off campus. My junior year I lived off campus but close enough that I had a bicycle, or walked. If you live on campus you eat on campus and the food choices are numerous.
I ended up working at the Food Court for 3 years and met so many great friends working there.
As for academics, it was top notch. Doesn't matter what you studied, the teaching is excellent. The party scene and community, town of Blacksburg is awesome as well.
Also there are so many outdoor activities to explore in the area from tubing on the New River, hiking on the Appalachian Trail, skiing in West Virginia not too far away.
My step niece is a nursing student at Radford and I hope she enjoys the area as much as I did."
