"You will not find a more perfect park anywhere in Centre County. Talleyrand Park is perfect for friends having a picnic, families with small children, photographers, weddings, lovers, and a place to read a book under a tree or catch a concert or attend a beer or craft fair. Bring proper duck food because the ducks and geese are hungry (and spoiled). Walk along the suspension bridge, climb on the historic trains, meditate in the gazebo, visit the canoe/kayak museum or even fish in Spring Creek (opposite side the VA bridge). The beauty here is ALL seasons: the fall colors are spectacular, the summer is blooming, the winter is a wonderland and spring is full of life. Visit this charming Victorian community of Bellefonte with all its unique architecture and places to enjoy like Talleyrand Park. The park is located in the center of town walking distances to Underground Railroad sites, including the AME Church where Frederick Douglas spoke, antique stores, the best Italian restaurants (Mamma Lucrezia's), a cool deli (Bonfattos), amazing shops for sovenirs, clothing and knick knacks. Oh, and be sure to check out Big Springs for locally made vodka and other spirits. Bellefonte is much cooler and walkable than State College. In fact, 5 US governors came out of Bellefonte as well as the founders of Penn State who only put the University in (State College) because it didn't have a liquor license! Ha! The founders (buried just beyond the beautiful courthouse in Union Cemetery) are rolling over in their graves now at the party scene PSU has become. You MUST visit Bellefonte! Visit Bellefonte Historical and Cultural Association on Facebook to learn more about Bellefonte and the history of Talleyrand Park."
