Still thinking about this really fun day we spent in Fernie last month. We had been pushing it on hikes all week and the kids wanted an easy day, and this one did not disappoint. You can find the hike on @alltrails listed as Coal Creek Heritage Trail East for the short version. You just head up coal creek road until you reach a parking area near an archery range. The old Coal Town Heritage Trail in Fernie. It’s a bike path now, but 100+ years ago a train ran along here to Coal Town. In this spot you can still see the impressions the rail ties left after they were removed. Coal and coke from Coal Town came to Fernie for processing, as well as people and supplies went to Coal Town from Fernie. ❤️history ❤️🇨🇦🤍BC #Fernie #trains #history #mtbphotos
