What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Lily Bay State Park is overwhelmingly loved by campers for its clean, well-maintained grounds and stunning lakefront campsites. Visitors appreciate the free showers and beautiful natural setting, making it a place for cherished family memories. Day visitors might find the beach area small and prone to wind, but the overall beauty of Moosehead Lake is undeniable.
"One of my favorite locations to tent, the check in is fast and easy. The park ranger, and the maintenance team is on top of the game. The park is clean at all times. Outhouses are available at every camping site and always clean and stocked. There is also a comfort station where you can clean your dishes and take a shower, ea shower is accessable for wheelchair users. There are also two boat launching areas, a kids playground, volleyball, basketball area and a public small beach."

"My wife and I drove from Brunswick to Lily Bay State Park on the strength of many positive reviews. We now realize that the bulk of the positive reviews are written by people who are fortunate enough to camp in this beautiful site. It is, unfortunately, less than ideal for day visitors. The public beach is small with a limited number of picnic tables and grills. On the day we visited (mid-July 2025), it was mild and clear, but so windy that a cookout was really out of the question. It was also abundantly clear that a lot of geese had spent time in and around the beach. It is unquestionably a beautiful location (although what's with the dog statue?), but best suited for people who have campers and other support equipment."

"Showers are clean free and handicap accessible. Firewood is affordable. Sites are clean and fairly level. Park is heavily booked all summer. Beware the boulders along the edge of the turnaround at the entrance ranger office. Notorious for being hit by RVs. My incident cost me a $300 rear tire. Therefore minus 1 star."
