You will fall for this park and never want to leave if you come here in autumn! 🍃 🍁 🍂 But seriously, Sieur de Monts National Monument was renamed as Lafayette National Park before taking its current name in 1929. It’s Acadia’s Park-iversary! On Feb. 26, 1919, what was then known as Sieur de Monts National Monument was re-designated by Congress to Lafayette National Park (it'd be renamed Acadia 10 years later) thanks in large part to conservationist George B. Dorr. We are so grateful to park staff, volunteers, and donors who have all helped keep this legacy of stewardship alive. Give today via the link i...

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Sieur de Monts for its beautiful Wild Gardens and engaging Nature Center, highlighting it as a peaceful and educational stop within Acadia. Many appreciate the opportunity to collect a unique park passport stamp and find the staff knowledgeable and friendly. While dining options are limited, the natural beauty and learning opportunities make it a highly recommended destination.

"We visited here on a late Monday afternoon in late June 2025.

There were plenty of parking spots in the parking lot. There is a bathroom also located in a separate building off the parking lot on the other side.

The visitor center was open when we visited. There were 2 ranger staffing the inside who were super friendly. There is a small merch store here as well and a number of exhibits all around the walls. There were more exhibits to look at here than at the Hulls Cove Visitor Center but the merch store was a lot smaller.

They also have their own National Park Service Passport Cancellation Stamp for this location.

We looked around inside for about 15 mins before walking out to check out the gardens themselves."

David L.

"Very nice place and not super crowded. Nice short walks in the nature with some wildlife. If you have the time take the climb, it's intense but short and has some amazing views"

Amit Mandelbom

"This nature center is fantastic!! So many trails and plants/flowers to see! I love it so much! I was also happy to see that you can get a stamp for the national park passport here too - it’s right by the register when you walk in the gift shop. They also had “bark ranger” and “junior ranger” stamps here!"
