Speaking of former amusement parks, does anyone remember Cascade Park in New Castle? It is still a public park, as the trolley company that developed it donated the park to the city in 1934. That occurred in the middle of the Great Depression when the bankrupt trolley company could no longer operate it. The City eventually hired a concessionaire to operate the rides, but between declining attendan...

"Not sure when things changed but the fountain and park looked like it hasn’t been maintained for a little while. It also seemed super small. Wasn’t really worth stopping at in my opinion. Picture shows what we saw in September 2025"

Kristen Rush-De Anda

"Lovely trails right in town. Easy parking. Didn't see if there was a bathroom. Places to picnic. I reccomend!"

Gabriella Blanchard-Manning

"Fountain is seasonally operated, they turn it off in October and back on in the Spring.
There is an artificial stream with waterfall, a nice fountain, some benches, some big old trees, a couple of short walking trails including one loop up a hill, and a small grassy field for frisbee or whatever.
Nice place to go for a quiet walk, please keep your dog on a leash and clean up after it 🐕‍🦺💩🪏🚮😎👍.

The river is just across the street, but you can't actually see it from the park.

Plenty of free parking on site."
