What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Bangor Public Library is widely praised for its beautiful historic building, extensive resources beyond books (including art supplies and instruments), and a fantastic children's department. However, some visitors have noted issues with noise and disruptive behavior, impacting the overall quiet atmosphere expected of a library.
"Wow! The Bangor Public Library is absolutely beautiful! There was such a wide selection, places to print, and space to just hang out. There were so many nice spaces to sit, tables to sprawl out on, and a little cafe even! I couldn’t believe there were instruments, magazines, art supplies, games, and more available for check out. It was super easy to open a library card, all I needed was my license."

"Great place to hang out! Lots of resources, books, art, computers, and free wifi! The third floor has a great children’s department with an awesome book selection, toys, puzzles, art supplies and great places to sit and read with the kiddos! They have also made improvements to the tween/teen areas over the last few months which is amazing! And a huge selection of board games! The library has great staff as well! Definitely recommend to anyone (especially those with kiddos)!"

"The Bangor Public library is beautiful, has a wonderful cafe at the entrance, and for the first couple of hours was a great space to work in while visiting Bangor.
However, it was the loudest library I have ever been to. People were arguing on the second floor, taking loud phone calls every hour, on conference call meetings without headphones, playing card games and slapping the table, and dogs running around barking (I’m a huge dog person, but this was not the place).
I walked in on several people doing drugs in the bathroom, a man was overdosing out front, and a young woman was screaming on each floor with just a bra and shorts on. Public spaces are public spaces, but this is a library and should be treated with more respect. I don’t know why the staff didn’t do anything about these issues, it wasn’t hidden in any way."
