What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
KiDiMu is a well-loved spot for young children, praised for its engaging exhibits and manageable size. Families appreciate the imaginative play zones and the convenience of combining a visit with a scenic ferry ride. Some visitors note that staff can be overly focused on tidiness, and the museum might be less engaging for older children.
"Big enough to keep them busy. Small enough to keep track easily. Beautifully staged and engaging for all ages. Plenty of benches and comfy chairs. Coffee shop on the corner is good and they let you bring in drinks but no food. They have a small shaded outdoor area with pea gravel and toys too!"

"UPDATE: Oh Hooray! There is a new director! I am feeling hopeful and will plan another visit soon then! Insert smiley emojis!! We have visited this children's play room 4 times now. It is a lovely environment overall. I appreciate the washing of hands prior to entry. What the museum needs to change is the constant tidying by staff. When children play, mess occurs! This is part of the play experience. With the staff constantly walking around tidying as a child is trying to play they are really giving the message that play is not really invited or allowed. It comes across as obsessive. Change your routine to having staff tidy about once every 2 hours or once an hour. Encourage the children to have fun rather than focusing on a tidy play room. Also, the staff @ every visit comes across rude. Hopefully a new manager will be hired and it will become an inviting, fun environment!"

"Fun place for kiddos. Make a day out of it and take the Ferry from Seattle over! We played for probably 1.5 hours at the Discovery Museum. Had lunch and returned to the city. Fun! My kiddo is 2, loved it!"

For families, the museum's size is often cited as a positive – large enough to keep kids occupied but small enough to easily supervise. The inclusion of a small, fenced outdoor play area adds another dimension to the experience, providing a safe space for children to enjoy some fresh air and outdoor fun.
