What to do in Southern Oregon

"It's okay. It can be really hard sometimes if doing a thru-hike. It is not a vacation. Because vacations are fun and relaxing. The trail is the opposite. In all the takes a lot out of you but it gives too. For me, it broke me down to the bone, but after that it put me back together into a way I never thought I could be. Not good or bad. Just different. If you do decide to thru-hike it, learn to love the pain. And don't forget you are In the woods. It is a special place to be in."

Alejandro Cordero Rios

"Beautiful stretch and easy to get to Callahan's Mountain Lodge. They have a campsite area with bathroom and showers and laundry on site for trekkers, or you can get a room. I think you can arrange to ship packages/supplies to the lodge while on your PCT trek. The lodge has a restaurant."

The Thru-Hike Experience: More Than Just a Walk

The Pacific Crest Trail is a legendary long-distance hiking path, and the Siskiyou Summit area offers access to a segment of this iconic trail. For those embarking on a thru-hike (completing the entire trail in one continuous journey), it's a profound test of physical and mental endurance. Many hikers describe the experience as transformative, breaking them down and rebuilding them in unexpected ways. It's crucial to understand that this is not a vacation; it's a demanding commitment that requires dedication and a willingness to embrace discomfort. TikTokReddit

Reddit Some hikers opt to stay at places like Callahan's Mountain Lodge, which offers amenities for trekkers and can be a convenient staging point for accessing the trail. Reddit
