Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Building for Kids Children's Museum for its clean, engaging, and educational play spaces. The staff are noted for being kind and helpful, and the variety of hands-on exhibits keeps children entertained for hours. Some suggest increasing hand sanitizer availability during peak seasons. Reddit

"We went on a Saturday. We had a great experience. Never felt crowded when with a birthday going on. It was very clean. Staff were walking around resetting play areas. The staff were so kind. Spent 2 hours there and could have stayed longer easily (only left due to only stopping as we passed through town)"

Angel Peck

"We had a great time at Building for Kids. Two stories filled with different rooms and stations of learning themes. Our favorites were the rope treehouse, heart slide, outer space room, and kitchen/store, but the ball gadget room, airplane, fire truck, water room, and bank activities were cool, too. Neat french toast activity put on by the staff that was educational and tasty."

"This place is wonderful! So many fun play places, informative staff, kind, the place is clean, creative, educational and fun ! I really enjoyed using out ASTC pass to come here. My only suggestion is with cold and flu season there should be more hand sanitizers. When asking about the location and how I suggested one on the way in and out, the staff with a mask on said the manager didn’t like the looks of the hand sanitizer on the counter. I promise it is much more efffective than a mask for ALL GERMS, to promote hand hygiene and is important for our littles to practice hand hygiene in public when coming and going places. Thank you !! I hope you consider it"

Play-Based Learning Philosophy

The Building for Kids Children's Museum is a testament to the power of play-based learning. Unlike traditional educational settings, this museum immerses children in hands-on experiences where they learn through exploration, experimentation, and imaginative scenarios. Exhibits like the kitchen and store encourage role-playing and social interaction, while the water play room allows for scientific discovery through sensory engagement. This approach fosters critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity in a fun, low-pressure environment. Reddit

This philosophy is particularly effective for young children, as it taps into their natural curiosity and desire to interact with their surroundings. The museum's design ensures that every corner offers an opportunity for discovery, from climbing the rope treehouse to pretending to be a firefighter in the Big Rig. The staff's role in resetting exhibits and engaging with children further supports this learning model by ensuring a dynamic and responsive play space. Reddit

Visitors consistently highlight how children can spend hours here without repeating activities, a testament to the diverse range of engaging exhibits. This variety ensures that children of different ages and interests can find something captivating, making it a truly inclusive and enriching experience. The focus is on the process of learning rather than rote memorization, building a strong foundation for future academic success. TikTok

Navigating Crowds and Peak Times

Like many popular children's attractions, the Building for Kids Children's Museum can get busy, especially on weekends and during school holidays. Birthday parties are a common sight, adding to the lively atmosphere but also increasing the number of visitors. However, reviews suggest that even with parties, the museum is well-managed, with staff diligently resetting play areas to ensure everyone has a chance to enjoy the exhibits. Reddit

To make the most of your visit and avoid the biggest crowds, weekday mornings are often recommended. This is when you'll find the most open space for toddlers to explore freely. If a weekend visit is your only option, arriving early in the morning before the main rush, or visiting shortly after lunch when some groups may be departing, can offer a more relaxed experience. Reddit

Despite potential crowds, the museum's layout with its large open areas and multiple stories helps distribute visitors. This means you can often find pockets of space even on busier days. The key is to be flexible and perhaps prioritize certain exhibits during peak times and others when it's quieter. Reddit

For families who frequently visit museums, a significant perk of the Building for Kids Children's Museum is its participation in the ASTC Travel Passport Program. This program allows members of participating science and technology centers to enjoy free or discounted admission to thousands of other institutions worldwide. Reddit

This means that if you have a membership to a science museum in your home city, you might be able to visit the Building for Kids Children's Museum without paying the standard admission fee.
