What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the abundance of wildlife, particularly alligators and birds, making it a highly recommended free activity near Orlando. The drive-through format is convenient, though some find the wait times on weekends can be long. It's a peaceful escape into nature, perfect for families and wildlife enthusiasts.
"We had a great time exploring the wildlife drive! The area is full of birds, alligators, and beautiful natural scenery—perfect for nature lovers and photographers alike. Traffic was surprisingly light for a Sunday, which made the experience even more relaxing. The only downside was the lack of good restroom facilities, which would’ve made the visit a bit more comfortable. Still, it’s a wonderful spot to enjoy Florida’s wildlife and we’d definitely go back."

"Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive completely blew us away. It’s an 11-mile scenic drive through wetlands, marshes, and lake views—all packed with wildlife. We saw countless birds, gators, turtles, and even a few otters. It’s the kind of place where every visit feels a little different.
We loved it so much, we went back four times during our two-week stay! It’s that good.
The pace is slow (about 10 mph), which gives you time to really take in the surroundings. There are several pull-off spots for photos or just enjoying the view. The area is clean, peaceful, and full of natural beauty. It’s perfect for families, photographers, or anyone who wants a relaxing nature experience without having to hike.
Definitely bring binoculars and a camera. Early mornings or cooler days seem to bring out the most wildlife. Can’t recommend it enough—we’ll absolutely be back again."

"This is such a fun activity in central Florida especially if you want to see a ton of gators!! My daughter loved spotting all the wildlife we saw!! And it’s free to do!! So if you want an affordable activity to see some quieter “untouched” parts of Florida away from the hustle and bustle of the cities I highly recommend packing your favorite car snacks and coming here!! The only problem we had was so many people parking randomly in the one way roads there are places all throughout to pullover and park if needed that won’t cause traffic jams"
