Visitors appreciate the tranquil escape it offers on the Iowa State University campus. However, some find the walking path could be improved, and parking can be a challenge.
"It's a lovely little lake, but it's hard to get parking for the students. They could assign a few parking lots for 15 minutes free."

"A must-see location while visiting the Iowa State University campus. The lake has a pair of female resident swans that the students have named Lancelot and Elaine. The pair usually hangs out along the southwestern shores of the lake, but they do actively defend the entire lake against other migratory birds such as goose and ducks. During the winter, the lake is mechanically circulated, so don't even think about trying to skate on this lake. There is a footpath around the perimeter of the lake with plenty of bench seating should one decide to sit and enjoy the serenity of this lake."

"Haha I'm rating Lake LaVerne. The trees are really quality, sturdy with hammocking in mind. The water is clear when it matters and the swans are a nice touch. The walking path leaves something to be desired though"
