What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the friendly and knowledgeable staff, particularly tour guides like Claire, who make the history engaging. The mansion's significance to the Schuyler family and the Hamilton musical is a major draw, though some appreciate the deeper dive into the complex history of slavery. The affordable admission and convenient parking are also noted positives.
"Very friendly Staff. I was able to navigate quite a bit with my powerchair. I did not go on the tour. I preference to opt for the virtual tour. It just makes more sense for me. Staff at the visitor center were very friendly. Nice options for Souvenirs at very reasonable prices. There's enough to see in the visitor center to keep you occupied for a fair bit, dont let the size of it fool you. Several modern digital interactive learning kiosks and it wasnt overly crowded. I was pleasantly surprised how fragrant the historical plantings were. Maybe because I was spending a bit of time next to the entrance loading my powerchair. But it was pleasant, fragrant and relaxing. Plenty of benches on the grounds to just sit and enjoy."

"Claire is an absolute fabulous host and tour guide! This is one of our favorite tours and historic sites we have visited so far in the region. The valuable knowledge and restoration work these sites provide are astounding and they have done a great job with this one. A must see when in Albany and if you’re lucky you’ll get the amazing Claire like our group did."
