Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the USS Hornet Museum as a hidden gem, highlighting its extensive exhibits on naval aviation and the history of the Alameda Naval Air Station. The knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteer staff are frequently mentioned as a key factor in making the visit memorable. While some note the extensive stairs, the overall experience is described as highly underrated and a treasure trove of history. Reddit

"The Naval Air Museum was a surprising delight; particularly for me in view of my special interest in the pioneering age of flying boats. In fact I had built a balsa model of the China Clipper from scratch without knowing much of the history. And I had no idea the Museum had a special section for the Pan Am clippers, so you can imagine my surprise when I recognised it! The other oustanding features of the museum include aircraft and ship models, and a terrific library with a fascinating section of unique donated photos. Yet it is the eagerness of the staff that makes the difference. And if you have a penchant for clippers it is terrific - the RC China Clipper is priceless!"

"A hidden gem with detailed exhibits on naval aviation and the history of Alameda’s air station — 3 floors packed with history, super interesting."

"This is a treasure hidden in plain sight. Knowing history helps make more informed decisions. War isn’t religious or political, it’s power and control that the dark elite seek via corrupt & coercive fear based manipulation.

The people who “work” here are retired members of the public who have a love for the history of the country and more so, for military history.

I met Bob, Ellen and another whose name I didn’t catch. Ellen and I connected deeply in the library, one of my favorite places to hang out. Apparently her favorite place too. She’s written two books, one on the Armenian genocide, taught at the unified school district in SF for over 40 years.

Elders are keepers of knowledge and stories are meant for the masses to digest and make better choices."
