What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise DuPont Planetarium for its engaging shows, particularly the immersive visual experiences and educational content. The gem and mineral collection and live animal exhibits add extra appeal, and the observatory offers a chance to explore the night sky. While most find the staff knowledgeable and the facility accessible, some advise booking ahead for better seating to avoid discomfort during shows.
"What a great find! Perfect for a fun and educational Saturday night out. The collection of gems and minerals is lovely and there are actually live animals as well. The telescope is super neat to look at the moon and the staff are friendly and very knowledgeable."
Joseph Davis
"This was my first visit to the planetarium, and it was a different and enjoyable experience. We came for the Mesmerica show after seeing posts on Facebook that looked interesting. The visuals and music were very relaxing. Kind of like looking through a psychedelic kaleidoscope!
I would recommend getting there early or buying VIP tickets for choice seating. We sat in the 2nd row from the top which was pretty good for viewing but still requires a lot of looking up. I can't imagine how the lower seats near the front would strain your neck.
All in all, it was a wonderful show and I'd go there again if a future event piques my interest."
Kurt Wiese
"Beautifica360 was the worst date idea I've ever got baited into. It was literally a 90's Screensaver with elevator music on top and a British guy to tell you dance and breath. Even worse, they over booked and instead of moving us to next showing they did put these stupid USCA folding chairs which was not only super uncomfortable, but also annihilated our necks looking up to get an idea of the show. Don't waste your time and money going there. There's not a 0 star button on Google but if there was, It definitely would've been my first 0 star review."

Experiencing Planetarium Shows
When choosing a show, consider the descriptions carefully. While 'Mesmerica' is praised for its relaxing qualities, one reviewer found it to be a 'worst date idea' due to its abstract nature and uncomfortable seating arrangements when overbooked. This highlights the importance of understanding the show's content and potential seating issues. The dome environment is designed for full immersion, so be prepared for a unique visual and auditory journey.
For those seeking a more traditional planetarium experience, educational shows provide insights into astronomy and space exploration. The staff are often praised for their knowledge, especially during observatory sessions, so don't hesitate to ask questions.
Exploring the RPSEC Observatory
While the primary function is observation, the observatory itself can be an interesting subject for photography. The telescope and the structure of the observatory offer unique visual elements. For those interested in astrophotography, conditions and equipment will play a significant role in the success of capturing images of the moon or planets. It's advisable to inquire about any specific photography guidelines or opportunities.
Even if you're not an astronomy buff, the chance to see distant objects through a professional telescope is a memorable experience. It's a great way to spark curiosity about the universe and learn more about our place within it.
Beyond the Stars: Exhibits and More
Adding to the variety, the facility also houses live animals. This unexpected element can be a delightful surprise for visitors, especially families with children, and adds another dimension to the educational experience. These exhibits are generally well-maintained and contribute to the overall value of a visit.
These additional attractions make DuPont Planetarium a well-rounded destination, offering something for everyone, whether you're fascinated by stars, rocks, or creatures.
