What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Beacon Country Park as a well-kept, spacious, and diverse natural escape. Highlights include the friendly Highland cows, stunning summit views, and engaging woodland trails with sculptures. The affordable cafe and excellent ranger team also receive praise, making it a highly recommended spot for families, dog owners, and nature lovers.
"There are a couple of carparks to use. We always choose the one near the visitor centre as that has the toilets in it. This is quite a short walk if you follow the main path but you can go off into the woodlands. In one of the woodlands you’ll find some wooden sculptures, including the Gruffalo (although he seems to have lost his ears). The viewpoint from the top gives some great views on a clear day and if you have kids with you there’s a really decent park."
Where Today
"What a great place to go with your dogs, your children, or just yourself. You can walk or just sit and enjoy the view from the viewing point.
There are paths and benches and bins! There is also a recreation area where children can play. There are large green spaces, as well as lots of smaller areas to explore.
A water station is available, which is ideal for cleaning muddy paws, and I think there's a cafe, I can't be sure if it's still open. There are toilets available for public use, which can be very useful as one could spend hours at the country park.
I could say a lot more. Maybe you could visit and find out for yourself."
Lisa Knowles
"Well kept, lovely and spacious park. Lots of events, clearly excellent ranger team. Café food is basic but nice enough for a quick pit stop, the prices are very affordable, cafe staff are lovely and efficient. Definitely recommend visiting here.
The only negative is that on event days the toilets by the cafe are not cleaned and stocked frequently enough so can be unpleasant. On a normal day they are a bit dated but clean."
