What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Reviews for UCLan Preston Campus are mixed, with some students praising specific academic programs like floristry and the convenience of on-campus facilities. However, significant concerns have been raised regarding the admissions process, accommodation conditions, and the perceived value of certain courses, particularly medicine. Some international students have also reported issues with refunds and support services.
"I saw the course I'm interested in was available in Clearing, so I used their live chat in the morning and gave all my details. About an hour later, someone from admissions called me and said I was eligible to proceed to the next step and would receive an email within twenty minutes to invite me to an interview. They advised that the invite wasn't guaranteed as it was on a first come, first served basis, so after checking my email for the next half hour and not receiving an email from them, I assumed I was not going to be invited.
To my surprise, I received an email at 17:05 telling me my interview was at 17:30. A few hours to prepare for interview is not enough, let alone twenty-five minutes. I had gone out, so I had to rush back to my hotel room to be able to do it. I have anxiety, so this put me on edge and I didn't do very well in the interview as a result. It was disappointing as I had advised during the live chat that I have some health problems, but as with the first time I interviewed with them, this was apparently ignored.
The interview was scheduled for ten minutes and very rushed. I could tell the interviewer was stressed and I didn't get a chance to properly answer their questions. For example, they asked me to state three things about a topic, but I only got a chance to state and elaborate on two before they moved on.
It was a disappointing, stressful experience."

"Don’t waste your time applying for Medicine at this university.
It’s a cash grab, plain and simple. They make you pay a full year’s tuition to study basic maths and irrelevant content that has nothing to do with medicine. It’s just a way to fill seats and make money.
Out of around 40 students, only 2 are selected after the MMI. The rest? You're left with nothing. No backup options, no support — just a wasted year and a huge bill. They don’t care what happens to you after that.
If you're serious about studying medicine, look elsewhere. This place will drain your time, money, and motivation"

"My son was in the interior design program on a basketball scholarship (we received peanuts in aid). During his "foundation" year (freshman year), his co-teacher repeatedly asked him if he had a gun. Even after my son told him to stop asking and to stay away from, the co-teacher continued. My son filed a complaint with the university; disenrolled; and will attend a school here in the U.S. Now, I'm getting the runaround trying to get a refund for the three years of "accommodation" (housing) and health insurance I paid (~$6000 since he was an international student, and the school wanted four years of each paid upfront).
The basketball team also didn't have their own weight room to work out based on their own schedule, but had to use the school gym full of all the other students. Moreover, when my son injured his ankle during practice, he was told he would have to purchase ice from a local store for his ankle; the program/coach/medical person couldn't treat the injury.
And let's not talk about the $400 fee we had to pay to a 3rd party to transfer his tuition payment from the U.S. to the university . . .
In total, I've spent over $25,000 in tuition, insurance, accommodation, flights, VISA, spending money, cell phone, and setting him up in his room. Wish me luck getting back my money from a school that was a waste of time!"
