What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Tollcross Park is a beloved local green space, praised for its spaciousness, the charming animal farm, and the stunning rose garden that blooms vibrantly in summer. Visitors appreciate it as a great spot for walks and picnics. However, some reviews mention issues with overflowing bins and a lack of on-site facilities like restrooms, which can detract from the experience.
"This park is home ground for me and well visited. Its clean at all times. Its big, friendly and absolutely part of my survival in Glasgow. Its home to a few foxes. It has an animal farm for the kids (I'm still one) and it has one of the most beautiful buildings on the property. My pictures will prove it."

"Could be a fantastic park, the bins were overfilled and litter was all around the park sadly.... A combination of Council cut backs and people unwilling to take litter home if the bins are full.
I will revisit again so hopefully the litter will be gone."
Del
"Park massive and plenty to see, have benches popped around the park. They have small farm at park as well. Downside no facilities to have coffee/ wash hands. For a park this side and an attraction for families. You would think they would have toilets 🚻.
Easy to get to, parking available. Ideal for afternoon out."

Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
Beyond the farm and playground, the park's vastness makes it perfect for long walks and picnics. Consider visiting during the spring for daffodils or summer for the rose garden to add extra visual appeal to your family outing. The combination of free entry and engaging attractions makes it a budget-friendly option for a fun-filled family day.
🚶♀️ Budget Travelers
To make the most of a budget visit, pack all your own food and drinks, as on-site facilities like cafes are limited. Exploring the Gardens and Glasshouses
Beyond the roses, the park also features seasonal blooms like thousands of daffodils carpeting the grounds in March. This makes the park a year-round destination for nature lovers. The combination of manicured gardens and naturalistic planting offers diverse visual appeal throughout the seasons. Remember to wear comfortable shoes as exploring these areas involves a good amount of walking.
The Family-Friendly Animal Farm
While the farm itself is a highlight, it's important to note that the park's overall facilities can be limited. Some reviews mention that while the park is great for families, there's a lack of amenities like restrooms or cafes. Therefore, it's advisable for families to pack accordingly, bringing snacks, drinks, and any essentials needed for a comfortable outing, especially when planning to spend an extended period enjoying the farm and the park's other attractions.
Park Maintenance and Visitor Experience
However, a recurring point in reviews is the issue of overfilled bins and litter, particularly during busy periods. This seems to be a challenge that impacts the park's pristine appearance at times, with some attributing it to a combination of council cutbacks and visitor behavior. Despite these occasional drawbacks, many visitors express a willingness to return, hoping for improvements. The park's inherent beauty and the positive aspects of its attractions, like the animal farm and gardens, often outweigh these concerns for repeat visitors.
