"I've lived in Maldon for over 40 years and had never been up to the library, but have fond memories of the public library that used to be on the ground floor.
I was walking around the church yard with my wife and 6 year old daughter on a Thursday afternoon and saw the door open. I read a sign that it was open had found myself climbing the ancient stone steps spiraling upwards.
We were greeted by an enthusiastic guide (I didn't take her name, sorry) who showed us around and gave us an insight into the building and vast selection of books. She engaged our daughter and had an activity sheet for her to do (spotting treasures in the library and ticking them off). We had a great chat and learned more about Maldon.
