What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally praise Thermae Bath Spa for its relaxing atmosphere, stunning rooftop pool views, and the unique experience of bathing in natural thermal waters. The facilities are well-maintained, and the staff are often described as friendly and welcoming. However, some find booking difficult, and a few mention that certain areas could be warmer or that the locker system is overcomplicated.
"I had a thoroughly positive experience at this facility. The premises are well-maintained and efficiently organized. The multi-level structure includes a heated swimming pool on both the ground floor and the rooftop, offering a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. The sauna rooms, located on the middle level, are clean and comfortable.
I would highly recommend the two-hour spa treatment—it was both enjoyable and deeply relaxing, and a perfect way to unwind.
Phone is not allowed inside the picture are from the nice building cross the road."

"Thermae Bath Spa is a really relaxing experience and well worth a visit.
Ground Floor
Reception area and the No.8 Shop.
Upper Ground Floor
Changing rooms and lockers.
First Floor
Massage suite, Springs Café and Restaurant where you can get an extra 30 minutes if you spend something, plus a nice relaxation area.
Second Floor
Wellness Suite with Roman and Georgian steam rooms, infrared sauna, ice chamber and Celestial relaxation room, plus an outdoor terrace.
Third Floor
The rooftop pool with incredible views, especially on cold days. It is filled with naturally heated mineral rich spring water and kept at a lovely warm temperature. There is also a built in jacuzzi section which makes it extra relaxing. Easily my favourite part of the whole visit.
Lower Ground Floor
The Minerva Bath is much bigger than the rooftop pool, also heated with natural hot spring water and jacuzzi features built in. The historic Hot Bath is here too, accessed by a sloping corridor.
You get two hours spa time with the option of an extra 30 minutes if you use the café, and they provide a free towel and robe which is really handy. Staff are welcoming and friendly, and I also liked that phones are locked away in a pouch until you finish which makes it much more peaceful without distractions.
A couple of negatives though. The changing rooms are unisex but not clearly signed which can feel awkward, although there are private cubicles to use. The lockers are also overcomplicated with the wristband system, a simple key or coin locker would be much easier.
Overall it is a brilliant way to spend a few hours in Bath and a unique chance to enjoy the city’s famous natural hot springs."

"What a fantastic experience at Thermae Bath Spa! We booked a twilight for two well in advance of our visit to Bath. We had no wait, robes and towels supplied, lockers, and showers available. The pools were all enjoyable and the rooftop pool had exquisite views! Our visit was in April during a sunny day/twilight. So glad we didn't miss an opportunity to enjoy a spa day. We went into the dry and steam saunas, relaxation room, and ice bath. This was our very first stop during our stay in Bath and it really set the tone. Everyone was friendly and helpful at the spa. We ended our evening at the cafe with the sharing platter, soup and drinks. Could not think of a better way to spend our first evening in Bath.
No phones allowed! This helped us to immerse ourselves in the experience ♥️"

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
Families might find the 2-hour time limit a good way to manage younger attention spans. The pools, especially the Minerva Bath, can be enjoyable for older children and teenagers. However, the emphasis on quiet and relaxation means it might not be the most dynamic experience for very young children. Consider booking during off-peak hours to potentially find a slightly more relaxed atmosphere.
💰 Budget Travelers
To maximize value, consider visiting on a weekday morning when crowds are lower. Bringing your own flip-flops can save a small rental fee if not included in your package. Dining at the cafe can extend your stay, so if you're on a budget, you might opt for a lighter snack rather than a full meal to get the extra time.
💖 Couples
Sharing the rooftop pool or enjoying the jacuzzi jets in the Minerva Bath provides intimate moments. The emphasis on a phone-free environment encourages connection and shared relaxation. Consider booking a spa treatment for two for an extra touch of indulgence.
