What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Telford Ice Rink offers a good skating experience with well-maintained ice, making it a popular spot for both casual fun and serious figure skating practice. While the rink itself is praised, some visitors note areas for improvement in cleanliness, particularly the restrooms, and suggest better signage for booking procedures. Despite these points, it's considered a valuable and enjoyable destination for families and skaters alike.
"The ice rink itself is pretty good, although the ice appears to be a little thin in places. A few things that let it down, cleanliness isn't the best, particularly the toilets and the girl on reception didn't have the best customer service skills.pricing isn't bad although I did find it strange that you you pay the same whether you need skates of bring your own. It's not a bad place and with a couple of tweaks, it could be a lot better."

"Was great fun! Had an amazing time with some friends. The ice was well maintained. There is a cafe on site to get refreshments."
Kai Davies
"The equipment itself offers plenty of exercising and practising skills for kids, i would say mainly 4-7 yrs old with some areas suitable for 1-3 yrs old. But like most soft play, its so dusty and dirty. Don't think its been vacuum since opened! You can't even see the windowsill at the top window from the dust on it. Don't know how it can't be possible to allocate an hour a week for 2 staff members to have a hand held vacuum and a wipe! Not suitable for kids with respiratory illnesses for sure, you just get sicker!"

Mastering the Ice: Skating Skills at Telford
For beginners, both children and adults, the rink offers a welcoming space to learn. The presence of skate aids, like the plastic snowman, can be invaluable for younger or less confident skaters to build their balance and confidence. Many TikTok videos showcase adult beginners working on fundamental skills, demonstrating that it's never too late to start.
While the rental skates are functional, experienced skaters often recommend bringing your own for better comfort and performance. The rink's environment encourages progression, making it a place where many aim to improve their salchows and other challenging moves.
Family Fun and Facilities
The on-site cafe provides a convenient spot for refreshments, though its opening hours can be inconsistent. For families, the value for money is often highlighted, with sessions providing several hours of entertainment for a reasonable price. Planning is key, as purchasing skate aids and securing lockers might involve separate steps from booking your skating time, so factor in a little extra time for these logistics.
Despite some minor drawbacks in cleanliness and facility consistency, the overall sentiment is that Telford Ice Rink provides a fun and engaging outing for families looking for an active and memorable experience.
Navigating Your Visit: Practicalities and Tips
When it comes to equipment, while skate rentals are available, they can be a bit stiff. If you're a regular skater, bringing your own skates is a good idea for comfort and performance. For those needing assistance on the ice, skate aids are available, but be prepared for potential extra steps in the purchasing process, which might involve a separate visit to reception.
While the rink itself is generally well-regarded for its ice quality, some visitors have pointed out areas for improvement, particularly concerning the cleanliness of the restrooms. Parking at the adjacent Telford International Centre is usually convenient and affordable, especially if you arrive early. Despite these minor points, the overall consensus is that Telford Ice Rink offers a good experience, especially given its unique offering in the area.
