Ad | Having been a member for over a year now of the National Trust I can honestly say it’s been one of the best investments I’ve made, and some of my days out at Glendurgan, Lanhydrock and Trelissick (all local to me) have been the highlights of my last year down in the South West. A National Trust membership gives you access to over 500 places for just £7.60 per month and, having spent more time...

AD a spring day in my soft life with @National Trust 🌸 I’m a sucker for beautiful, historic buildings and I love Richmond, so visiting Ham House and Garden as we welcome in the spring season was a must! It was great way to catch up with a friend and enjoy the sun together. I haven’t seen Spice World for a long time so I was trying hard to remember what scene was shot here. Does anyone remember the...

Reviews Summary

Sunnycroft is praised as a hidden gem, offering a beautifully preserved Victorian home with an intimate, lived-in feel. Visitors appreciate the informative tours and charming gardens, though the lack of a cafe and potential for muddy grounds are noted drawbacks. The dedication of the staff enhances the authentic experience. Reddit+2

"Sunnycroft is a hidden gem at the foot of the Wrekin. A Victorian house with subsequent strong female ownership, it is a home that has been lived in and enjoyed. Donated to the National Trust in 1997, there is so much to see and learn.

House entrance with a very informative tour needs to be pre-booked, so plan your visit in advance (Sunnycroft has limited opening). Parking is available on site and whilst there is no cafe, light refreshments are available in the 'tuck shop' - make your own tea or coffee and leave a donation. The gardens are intimate and well worth exploring.

A small team run Sunnycroft and their enthusiasm and dedication is clear to see."

"Beautiful well preserved house. Not that large but everything just left as to though the owners had just walked out the door and would need back for tea. Visited during a wonderful flower display."

Mike Chandler

"Visited the Flower Festival 2025 lovely time, beautiful displays. This was a pre-booked event and had to pay extra even though we're Trust members"

Key takeaway: Embrace the feeling of a home frozen in time. The personal stories and preserved interiors offer a unique and intimate historical experience that differs from larger, more formal estates. Reddit+1

Exploring the Intimate Gardens

While Sunnycroft is primarily known for its preserved house, its gardens are an equally delightful aspect of the visit. Described as intimate and well worth exploring, these grounds offer a peaceful retreat from the suburban surroundings. Despite being around five acres, the gardens are thoughtfully laid out, providing charming nooks and pathways to discover. Reddit

Visitors should be aware that the grounds can become muddy, especially after periods of rain. Wearing appropriate footwear is recommended to comfortably navigate the paths and enjoy the greenery. The gardens, much like the house, contribute to the overall sense of a well-loved and maintained property, offering a tranquil space to reflect after touring the interiors. Reddit
