"Fort Henry is part of a range of defences from WWII. It's in the most gorgeous part of Studland just above the beach. The watch tower part naturally has sweeping views of the bay. It all looks out of place now but back in the day they were practising for the d day landings and all sorts! Great place to take kids and dogs. The different fortifications create a kind of trail. Near the Bankes Arms pub if you fancy a beer after. Took some video of the old ammunition store as vandals had pulled the door off on one side, and I couldn't resist peeking in. Parking, loos and cafe nearby."

"Curious looking cylindrical concrete pillbox constructed by Canadian military forces during WWII, and named after their home base. This austere, functional structure is contrasted against the vibrant colourful sandstone cliffs behind it on this now peaceful beach.
Plenty of paid parking (free for National Trust members) at South Beach, with toilet facilities and a café just along the beach.
If you're interested in these pillboxes, there's another very similar one at Kimmeridge Bay - a very different, wilder beach, well worth a look for its remarkable geology."
