We spent a captivating afternoon at St Paul's Church, Jarrow last week with our Here To There gang from @u3auk South Shields. We learnt all about the stained glass of Leonard Evetts, his methods of glass making, his use of pattern, design and painting, and how he used potatoes in the mix to get bubbles in his glass. It was fascinating! But don't take our word for it. Tricia was the expert...defin...

"St Paul's Church is full of history in every corner, Ray and Susan explain everything about the church and even offered me a great coffee. If you around i recommend you to see it."

Christian Crowder

"The church is beautiful - and the welcome given is warm, genuine and friendly.

Unfortunately it’s definitely not a peaceful place to sit and pray because the volunteers in the church perhaps don’t realise how much their voices echo around the church. It was hard to concentrate on reading the information boards, and on looking around the very well stocked shop because the chatter never stopped. I did try to sit quietly to pray but gave up with the incessant noise of talking - and it wasn’t that they were talking to visitors - they were catching up with each other, but it led to such a disappointing visit, I don’t think I’d return."

Den Harding

"Had a really enjoyable visit to the church today. The two volunteers were very knowledgeable and showed us different parts of the church and talked about it's very interesting history. Was well worth the visit. The ruins of the monastery are also really good, with information on plaques."
