"I wish I could give this more stars, a stunning place!
We met an older man, perhaps a volunteer, who was absolutely lovely and explained the background information of the cathedral to us. I am still in love with the beautiful stained glasses and the good condition of the building.
A special note: There is a sort of calendar that records all christenings, marriages, and burials by date over the years, a very special idea to preserve history and memories.
For those who are into history, here a short summary:
The St. Ninian’s Cathedral in Perth was the first cathedral built in the UK after the Reformation and was the result of a shared vision of two aristocrats: Lord John Forbes and George Frederick Boyle. Boyle was inspired by the Oxford Movement, a 19th-century religious and intellectual movement within the Church of England that aimed to reassert Catholic heritage and traditions. The architect William Butterfield was commissioned to design the building in the Gothic Revival style. The cathedral’s foundation stone was laid in 1849, and it was consecrated in 1850, although it was only partially completed at the time. After a severe storm some years ago damaged parts of the building, repairs were carried out to preserve its historic character."

"Oh, what a marvelous, charismatic, very, very special potent place. It is up there for me with Iona; Sacre Couer in Paris and the little chapel of St George at the foot of Mont St Michel. Deeply spiritual place with a very strong atmosphere and character. Extremely welcoming, lovely, kind chap who gave me a brief intro, leaflet and a couple of cards. He couldn't have been more enthusiastic or helpful. The altar detail is well worth seeing. It added to the atmosphere that there was live music playing during my visit. Deeply affecting place to those who are tuned in and maybe to others who are not too. Highly recommended."
