"A beautiful church right next to the Abbey Ruins
This is an absolutely beautiful church, open to the public. It is easy to find since it is right next to the Abbey Ruins and Forbury Park. You have to walk along the road to get to the entrance. We went on a weekend and the church was open and empty. The church's exterior is a striking example of Gothic Revival architecture, with its intricate stone carvings and soaring spires that reach towards the heavens. The building is rich in history. As you step inside, you are greeted by the soft glow of stained glass windows that cast a mesmerizing play of colors across the interior. There are several stations to light candles around the church. There is an organ above and behind the main area and opposite the altar. There are stained glass windows on the upper and lower stories of the building. There is a hand-drawn calligraphy sign along one wall describing the history of Reading Abbey dating back to 1121. The intricate details of the altar and the ornate decor create a serene and contemplative ambiance. If you want to understand Reading history, I highly recommend visiting this church."
