What Travellers Say

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise St. Bartholomew's for its stunning Norman architecture and rich history, often highlighting the peaceful atmosphere and the welcoming nature towards families. Some note the ongoing renovations as a sign of care for the historic building. While generally positive, a few visitors wished for more personal engagement after services.

"I visited St Bartholomews on Christmas day with my husband, kids and sister with her daughter.

I came with two young children and they were helpful bringing the buggy in.
Despite us being late and coming through a song, they were very welcoming and friendly. Especially appreciated a lady who came straight over and said Merry Christmas.

I prefer churches with chairs and modern, relaxed worship. Given the age and history of St Bartholomews, I'm not sure that would ever be appropriate here!

As a Christian I think Christmas services are a great opportunity to welcome new people to the church family, so was slightly disappointing no one chatted to me after. Though my sister says since talked to her, so maybe she liked more friendly?!

They do welcome children, with a little activity bag and drawing table helping to keep kids busy.

The church is obviously needs major work, and I believe they are fundraising for it. It is an amazing piece of history to have so I hope the work enhances the building and not detract from it."
