The 1940s weekend is a particular highlight, transforming the museum into a vibrant historical experience. While some might wish for a cafe, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many commending the friendly staff and the thoughtful presentation of artifacts.
"An interesting and slightly unnerving experience! It's not every day you see a skeleton laid in a bed of soil! It was very interesting to see Thomas Hardy's violin, which I think he inherited from his Father, it is an old German fiddle with a lion head instead of a scroll at the top of the neck. There were plenty of interesting things to see, I can heartily recommend this museum."

"Visited today, and loved everything about it.
From a disability standpoint in particular, it was genuinely wonderful to be able to easily access 90% of the museum without issue (Mobility Scooter/Wheelchair access to 90% of the museum).
Getting to access so much of the exhibit space was great, and they were all truly fascinating."

"A nice little museum. I visited during the 1940's weekend, getting free entry as I travelled in by train.
The exhibits are well laid out. I loved the viewing tower and the short film on the Deep Coast History.
The museum staff were friendly and helpful, even when I took some items which I found on the beach to show them. Sadly, they didn't have a microscope to view the items in more detail."
