Scarborough Art Gallery is a highly-rated 'hidden gem' offering excellent value with its £5 annual pass covering both the gallery and the Rotunda Museum. Visitors praise the diverse and engaging exhibitions, particularly those featuring local talent and specific artist retrospectives. The friendly staff contribute to a welcoming atmosphere, though accessibility to the first floor is limited by stairs.
"In Scarborough for a trip to the theatre and not very mobile at the moment, I decided to visit Scarborough Art Gallery.
There is a charge of £5 but this is actually for an annual pass to the Art Gallery and the nearby Rotunda Museum.
I explored the ground floor which had a small shop and 2 excellent exhibitions in place.
I would have liked to go up to the first floor, but there is no lift and the beautifully sweeping staircase was a little too challenging for me on this occasion.
Unfortunately the toilets are on the first floor."
Anne Marie Stagg
"Totally worth it for £5, which also includes admission to the Rotunda Museum. The exhibition 'Atkinson Grimshaw: At Home in Yorkshire' is gorgeous. The staff is friendly."
Tim P.
"This is a little hidden gem tucked away in a beautiful crescent just off the city centre. When I visited they had a wonderful if compact exhibition of works by Atkinson Grimshaw and another of works produced by local prisoners, which was powerful and moving. And the staff were lovely - friendly and welcoming!"
