What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Guests consistently praise the Rutland Arms Hotel for its charming character, excellent location in the heart of Bakewell, and high-quality dining. The attentive staff and unique, well-decorated rooms are frequently highlighted as positives. Some minor issues, like limited space in certain rooms for pet crates and occasional wasp presence in warmer months, were noted but did not significantly detract from overall positive experiences.
"Have had dinner here tonight on our last night in Bakewell, and everything was as good if not better than we hoped it might be. The staff were attentive and happy which always puts the evening on to a good footing. The dining room was......well look for yourselves. Emily and her colleagues couldn't have been more welcoming.
Oh! The food and drink were excellent too!!
Thank you all and see you next year."

"Just arrived back from a lovely weekend staying at the beautiful Rutland Arms Hotel located right in the centre of Bakwell.
We were a party of 4 adults & one dog there for a walking weekend.
The hotel itself is full of charm & character with beautiful rooms ,bar area, lobby & dining room. All the walls covered in a stunning array of pictures which gives the hotel a very quirky individual feel.
Our room 205 was lovely with all of the extras we expected with tea/coffee ,ironing facilities ,tv & a cooling fan.
The bathroom was modern & very clean with topnotch toiletries.
Our friends room over in the courtyard was great but had very limited space for their dogs travelling cage (used to make him feel safe & secure in a different environment from home)he's a labrador not a chihuahua so takes a bit of space .Hence only 4* rather than 5.
The food was excellent with lots of choice.
Breakfast was a great start to the day but differed from Saturday to Sunday with less eggs being served on the 2 days, perhaps different chefs or the hens had stopped laying .
Evening meal on the Saturday was tasty & well presented which was enjoyed by all but very surprised when the bill arrived as it was a lot more than we had calculated. It eventually transpired it was not ours but a different table we could have quite easily had paid this if we not spotted the error. A 10% service charge is included on the bill which is voluntary .
On the Saturday we seemed to have an invasion of the dreaded Wasps which become annoying whilst eating & drinking (Mother nature always seems to send something to annoy )perhaps a decoy of something sweet /small cup of cider would have been an attempt to distract them.
The staff were friendly & professional at all times & made us feel very welcome.
Great added bonus of free parking for hotel guests .
Thankyou to the team for picking up my email when we got home as I left my walking jacket in the hotel & agreeing to post back out to me .
Would highly recommend this hotel with its lovely facilities & staff to family & friends. We would certainly use the Rutland Arms again."

"We had an absolutely wonderful stay at The Rutland Arms in Bakewell. The location is perfect right in the heart of the town centre, making it so easy to explore everything on foot.
The hotel itself is beautifully decorated, full of charm and character. We were lucky enough to stay in the Jane Austen room, and it was truly unbelievable such a unique and special experience.
We dined at the hotel for lunch, dinner, and breakfast. All the meals were excellent — good quality ingredients, generous portions, and very reasonably priced.
The staff were friendly, helpful, and efficient throughout our stay. It’s clear they take pride in providing great service.
We couldn’t have asked for a better getaway. Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely be returning!"
