What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Rushmere Heath is a lovely, expansive common appreciated for its natural beauty and suitability for dog walking. Visitors enjoy the open spaces and scenic views, particularly during autumn and spring. However, some walkers have expressed concerns about safety due to interactions with golfers, highlighting a need for increased awareness and consideration from all users of the heath.
"Live very close to this common. It's decent size and there's heaps of walks all around. Walkers and Golfers usually mind out for each other and theres not really any suspicious behaviour on the common. Many dog walkers so presume it's very dog friendly, also a lot of dog bins."

"Went for a walk around the park the other day. Really really nice. Even nicer on a nice, warm autumn day. One thing I'd like to ask though, I found this strange looking path that disappeared into the distance ( see the photo ) is it normal in Ipswich for paths to disappear?"

"I have been walking my dog on the common almost every day for 2 years. It is becoming increasingly hazardous due to the golfers, some of whom are polite and patient. Some, however, are ignorant and arrogant. They think that they have priority or exclusive use of the common. I have seen golf balls land close to a lady with a pushchair, elderly and disabled people yelled at and sworn at because they were unable to move out of the golfers way quickly enough. I have a disability and have been sworn at and threatened by golfers. I have started to carry a First Aid kit for when the inevitable happens! I have spoken to several people who have been hit by golf balls who confirm that it is very painful. The common is a lovely place to walk. Just be careful. (A crash helmet would be a good idea!) Golfers, be advised that any golf balls landing near to me or my dog will be stamped into the ground, thrown into the gorse bushes or picked up and given to a charity shop."
