What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Runswick Bay is a picturesque coastal village with a beautiful sandy beach, popular for its charm and fossil hunting opportunities. Visitors rave about the stunning views and the idyllic setting of red-roofed cottages. However, the very steep hill down to the bay is a significant challenge for some, and parking can be difficult during peak times.
"If you can manage the very long steep hill then you're in for a real treat. A beautiful bay of golden sand, rock pools, fossil hunting along the cliffs, you can hire out sup boards and kayaks too. There's a cute pub and a shop/cafe in amongst the windy little pathways between the beautiful little cottages. Second time visiting this area. Beautiful any time of day."

"This is a little gem we've found, and we absolutely loved it. We have stopped there for an ice cream and a walk with the dogs and really enjoyed it. The weather was amazing, making the experience even better. The walk back to the car, the hill, is a killer tho so make sure you have some water left for when you are back to the top."

"One of the nicest beaches in the area imo. Parking is a bit of a struggle especially on a fine day. Dog friendly. Very clean. Gets very busy in summer but even then such a pleasant place. Take everything you need with you or there's a Co Op on the way into the village, very wise to go there first as it's a fair walk away up a very steep, long hill."
