Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the RSPB Wood of Cree for its stunning ancient woodland, impressive waterfalls, and peaceful atmosphere. The well-marked trails and free parking are appreciated, though the single-track access road requires careful driving. While wildlife sightings like otters can be elusive, the natural beauty and the powerful waterfalls make it a highly recommended destination for nature lovers.

"Can be reached from Minigaff or the A714, signposted. It's a long single track road with few passing places to get to a gravel car park with space for a lot of cars, no bays marked. There is a notice board with info and small map about the walk up the hill. There is also a small notice behind it for the otter pool. This is a worn path to a wooden viewing platform over a large bend in the cree river. We didn't see any otters, but a crested crebe flew into the pool to fish. Don't miss the big waterfall north of the carpark which requires a detour from the walk to reach. If you drive north you can park in front of it to have a closer look. It is a large drop and impressive when in spate."

Joseph Kincaid

"Had the place to myself, got up early to try and see the otters with no joy so sat and watched all the birds in the trees, went across the road to the walk up the forest waterfall. Free car park"

Chris Duncan

"Moderate to hard going, butiful place nice waterfalls, saw quite a lot of frogs"
