Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about The Prospect of Whitby's incredible historic atmosphere and prime riverside location, calling it one of London's most atmospheric spots. The reasonable prices and stunning Thames views are frequently praised, making it a beloved destination for both locals and tourists seeking a taste of old London. However, some have experienced disappointing waits for specific dishes, particularly during busy Sunday roasts.
"Classic old London pub right on the river in a nice neighbourhood. Inside is well decorated, a quirky building, nice staff and cool dining rooms and terrace areas.
Good views of Canary Wharf and Limehouse to the east, as well as south of the river.
Great fish and chips, worth a visit and a nice place to go for lunch, dinner or just a pint.
The space outside is nice in summer, and it’s very cosy inside in winter."

"The Prospect of Whitby is a beautiful, historic pub in an incredible riverside setting. Easily one of the most atmospheric spots along the Thames.
We visited on Sunday with a reservation specifically for the festive Sunday roast. Unfortunately, we were told on arrival that the turkey was being prepared, and it would take around 30 minutes, which was disappointing as that was the main reason for our booking.
We ordered the fish and chips and the beef roast instead (and added pigs in blankets!), which was enjoyable, but not quite what we had planned. Overall a lovely place to visit, but the wait for the festive turkey roast took away slightly from the experience."

"We have been on a quest to visit all of the oldest pubs in London. This was such a spectacular place! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Greene Kings have great food at every pub. The place was clean, charming, and FULL of historical information or photos. The view was gorgeous and the history behind the pub was so interesting. This is at the top of our list of favorite pubs!"
