"This is a sea defences castle from the dark ages with a lot of intact features just outside Portsmouth.
Well worth a visit and you can also enjoy stunning seascape beauty outside the walls.
Part of the castle is free to enter which is a nice element."

"A boyhood dream to visit here, as an original Roman foreshore castle it was on my list. We couldn't go in the church as a wedding was taking place, however we walked around the graves and found a gentleman and his family all buried together, he was an artist and a member of the Royal academy and I was able to find him on Google search and read his life which made finding his grave even sadder and a bit personal. Car parking is easy with welcome toilets in the car park."
