Searching for the Oratory... After the St Piran's Day celebrations on Sunday here in Cornwall, I wanted to see the 1,500 year old St Piran's Oratory for myself, hidden in the undulating dunes of Penhale Sands near Perranporth. It's been buried in sand twice, encased in concrete, and finally left open to the elements; flooded, but still standing. It's a bracing walk from Perranporth on the windy cl...

St Piran's Oratory can be found in Penhale Sands Perranporth. It is a very old chapel( A Christian site from at least 800 AD) that for many years was lost in the sands. In 2014 it was dug out so that people could visit it once again. #oratory #perranporth #penhalesands #kernow #cornwall #coast #chapel #stpiran #exploremore #outdoortherapy Click the link in our bio to visit our Etsy shop to s...

Sunny Easter Sunday walk in Perranporth. Found the lost church or St Pirans Oratory to give it it's proper name. It's just near Penhale Sands and half buried in the dunes. It's thought to date back to the sixth century and was built by St Piran so a bit special really. Little bit of brief history lesson there 😂 anyways was a lovely afternoon walk 💕 #cornwall #kernow #perranpprth #perransands #s...

"Wow, what a beach! These shots are from Ligger Bay end towards Perranporth. We walked from Holywell Bay in 40+ mph winds which was a bit testing but worth it to see this incredible sandy beach."

Nick “Latto” H

"This is one of many places we visited whilst on holiday in Cornwall this week.

This is a really nice beach but getting here is a hike and a half. If your staying at the local Haven site then you can park at the too in the park, but you still have a good mile walk down the hill and cliff side to get to the beach. Make sure you take everything 1st time or you getting extra steps in.
There is a little shop/ice cream container down there but I didn't use it so can't comment.

At low tide it does look like you can walk the beach round to the local town, but again we didn't do it."
