Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise WWT Washington Wetland Centre for its beautiful natural setting and diverse wildlife. The engaging activities for children, particularly the Lego trail and play areas, are a major draw. While the cafe offers decent options, many recommend bringing a picnic to save money. Some find the centre larger than expected, requiring a good amount of walking.
"A really lovely place to go if you'd like to spend a day in nature. We did the otter and flamingo talks, which was informative and interesting. It's lovely to do the longer walk down to the salt marshes in sunny weather, and the kids liked bird spotting in the hides. It was great that the hides had little information sheets with common birds on for each respective location. It's worth taking along some binoculars if you have any.
The play area is good, the kids really enjoyed it, particularly the water play area (come prepared with a change of clothes). We took our own picnic, but also had drinks and ice cream at the main cafe, which had a modest selection of foods.
On the day we visited, there was also a pond dipping session on which the children really enjoyed.
It's worth downloading the app before booking tickets as you get a discount off the tickets if you book via the app. The app was also really handy and it sends you little timely reminders for any talks or activities you want to do. It was also handy for giving us a live location on the map when we were walking round."

The walk around the surrounding nature reserve was brilliant. The views from the numerous hides are fantastic. Our 4 yr old had a brilliant day. Family of 3 and ended up joining for the year as we enjoyed it so much for a family pic nic day out location."
