What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Dean Forest Railway for its wonderful steam train experience, friendly volunteers, and well-maintained historic stations. The reasonable ticket prices, dog-friendly policy, and accessibility features are frequently highlighted as major positives, making it a great day out for families and enthusiasts alike. Some minor points of feedback include the short duration of single rides, though this is mitigated by the Rover ticket option.
"Great day out on beautiful steam railway. Clean carriages, allowed to take food and drink on the journey, invited on the footplate of the engine to see it up close."

"Well worth the money, had an excellent trip! Lots of history to see. The tickets were a very reasonable price, the museum was great and entrance to that was free! The gift shop has a lot of variety, and the cafe was reasonably priced as well, loved the cake! A disused train carriage is now used as a shop, selling second hand books, toys etc, a lovely touch. There is decent disability access both at the center and on the train with some very spacious and open carriages in amongst the others, allowing plenty of room for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Dogs are allowed also. Not a single complaint to be made, it was great. I will definitely be visiting again with the kids!"

"Really good, round trip on the steam train then again on the diesel train. Lunch at the cafe. At 27Β° probably too hot a day but hey ho better than raining."
