Bolingbroke Castle in Lincolnshire was built in 1220 by Ralph, Earl of Chester. In the mid fourteenth century it was owned by John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster and his wife Blanche. Their son Henry lf Bolingbroke, later King Henry IV was born here in 1367.
