Its imposing architecture and peaceful atmosphere make it a remarkable landmark in the town. Unfortunately, I couldn’t go inside as it was closed at the time, which was a disappointment. However, just admiring this historic church from the outside was a pleasant experience. I hope to return and visit the interior next time.
The Old & St Andrew's Church has a rich history, originally founded in the 12th century. The current building was constructed in 1791, designed by architect David Logan, and was extended in 1834 with an impressive tower and spire designed by James Gillespie Graham. The tower reaches 108 feet to the parapet, with the spire rising another 92 feet above it.
Located on High Street, the church is a remarkable example of Gothic Revival architecture, built from sandstone. Its cruciform design, stained glass windows, and the tower with its spire give the building an imposing presence and special charm.
Even though I couldn't explore the interior, the exterior left a strong impression on me. It is a place that reflects the rich history and spiritual tradition of the Montrose community. I warmly recommend a visit to anyone coming to the area."

Even if you don't attend church it's a pretty and peaceful place to sit and contemplate.
