We adored Nuffield Place for its simplicity and the authentic ‘just lived-in’ atmosphere it exuded. It was brimming with items that reminded us of our grandparents, particularly the collection of ashtrays in an array of shapes and sizes! In 1933, Lord Nuffield added a Billiard Room, which is a striking feature in the house. The beautiful wood panelling and floor contribute to a sense of warmth ...

It’s Sunday, and that means it’s time for another National Trust trip! Today, we’re visiting Nuffield Place, not our usual type of destination but a much less luxurious house of a very good man. 👨🏼 Also If you watch until the end, you’ll find out where to purchase a Cartier bracelet for £40, which there’s a high chance might be real! 👀 #uktravelblogger #travelvlogs #ukvlog #ukvloggers #nationa...

"Charming little place with lots of information and several tours. Loved all the small details which could capture your attention so you easily spend 3 hours in the house and gardens despite it looking small. Lovely welcoming people with lots to tell you about history
A lot of room for parking"

"A great place and a great private residence of a very humble and successful man who piled his fortune with shear hard work. The place is modest by any standard but tastefully decorated with the furniture and decor of the day.
Very fascinating peep into the lives of a great couple."

"Nuffield Place near Henley on Thames was the home of car manufacturer and philanthropist William Morris ( later Lord Nuffield ) the owner of the Morris motor company.
At one stage Morris was the richest man in the UK but chose to buy a relatively modest home given his wealth. He was never wasteful and would not spend his money if he didn't need to.
The arts and craft house was altered and extended but not always in keeping with the houses design and somewhat spoiling it's beauty.
The house is pretty much as they left it, a family home with many personal items on show. There are many rooms to see including the bedroom with a workshop!
There are references to his philanthropy including an iron lung on display, he donated many of these throughout the commonwealth.
National Trust room guides are on hand to give you some additional information which I always enjoy.
Outside, the gardens are pretty, not vast but very pleasant to walk around, there are garden tours on some days, there is also a short woodland walk.
On site there is free parking, you will find a refreshment hut serving drinks and light snacks. There are toilets on site too plus a second hand book shop and gift shop.
Entry is free for National Trust members"
