What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Lindores Abbey Distillery for its exceptional blend of rich history, engaging tours, and high-quality whisky. The knowledgeable and enthusiastic guides, coupled with the dog-friendly atmosphere and beautiful setting opposite ancient abbey ruins, create a truly special and memorable experience. While it's a younger distillery, its connection to the origins of Scotch whisky is a significant draw.
"Lindores Abbey Distillery felt special, and there's really no other way to describe it. We were greeted by Stephanie, who looked after everything we needed, and Skye, the distillery doggo!
Our guide, Matt, was outstanding! His knowledge, enthusiasm, and storytelling made the tour informative and genuinely captivating. The grounds are impressive as this is a quaint independent distillery, where you can tell they have a huge sense of pride in the history of the site and the product they produce. The whole experience never felt rushed or scripted. From the ruins, to the farmland that provides the barley... it was impressive to be able to take it all in.
Of course, the tasting was the perfect finale, offering a curated selection that showcased the range and depth of Lindores’ work. Every dram had a story, and Matt - Lindores' Cask Custodian - made sure we understood (and appreciated) each one as he hand-picked the expressions of the day.
The distillery cask editions were indeed special. As limited releases. They are an absolute treat to be able to experience, and also now something to brag about, as they are no longer available for purchase."

"This was an absolute highlight of our trip to Scotland. Angela gave us the history tour and it was above and beyond the best, most well curated, interesting and captivating history tour I’ve ever encountered. This place is magical and important. Book the history tour. And also the whisky is fantastic. Highly recommend the Aqua Vitae."
Laura Irish
"Absolute fantastic experience at the Lindores Abbey Distillery. It is a young distillery, which makes is less known and therefore probably less crowded. They accept dogs on the guided tours of the distillery, which was very convenient for us. I highly recommend a visit of this distillery."
