"After almost a decade of living in Kidderminster and driving past this place most days, I finally decided to take the little bobbin to the Kidderminster Carpet Museum in the hope of instilling a bit of culture. What a great idea it turned out to be.

It’s the perfect way to spend a couple of hours on a Saturday morning while your significant other heads off for a friendly catch-up ... and you’re bored of stepping on Lego or dodging wet paintbrushes at home.

The highlight, they still make carpet samples on the original machinery. That’s right, in an unassuming corner of a market town, a little bit of industrial history still comes alive. (the machinery doesn’t always run, so check ahead if you’re hoping to see the beasts in action.)

Beyond the mechanics, the galleries take you on a colourful journey through history, with each one telling a different part of Kidderminster’s story.

The volunteers are brilliant. They are knowledgeable, welcoming, and clearly passionate about keeping alive the heritage that once put the town on the map.

In my view, this is a true independent treasure that deserves to be supported and looked after.

Thanks, everyone we both loved it."

My son was quite safe exploring the two sections at the far end while my daughter tried the various hands-on activities. Activity sheets were also available. Volunteers very friendly and helpful."
