What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally find Dower House Garden Morville to be a pleasant and worthwhile visit, particularly for its well-maintained gardens and the unique opportunity to see a private residence. While the house interior access is limited, the gardens offer a tranquil experience with lovely rural views. Some visitors noted minor safety concerns in garden areas and a less-than-ideal interaction with a volunteer regarding children touching displays.
"Didn't know what to expect here. Had a very pleasant visit. This house is tenanted so only open on certain days a year. There is not a huge amount to see in the house as it mostly contains the tenant's furniture. We had a good tour by one of the children of the tenants ~ very enthusiastic and clear. The garden is pleasant and they had a cream tea in the garden when we were there. You can also see an additional garden next to the hall and church (not National Trust). Lot's of parking."

"Well worth a visit. Lovely house and garden. Also a quaint little church, that provides refreshments."
Claire Farmer
"Visited on Sunday 10 June 2018 as the grounds were open as part of the National Garden Scheme. There were six gardens open including those of the hall. The gardens were all well looked after with some areas close to the hall itself in need of care. Steps and paving round ponds had signs on them warning about the fact that they were unsafe. A lot of garden at the rear of the hall with very topiary clipped box hedges."

The Dower House: A Glimpse into History
Visitors who have experienced tours inside have often praised the enthusiasm and clarity of the guides, who are sometimes family members of the tenants. This personal touch adds a unique warmth to the visit, making it feel more like an intimate viewing than a formal museum tour. The limited access also means that the house retains a lived-in, homely feel, preserving its character as a cherished family home rather than a sterile exhibit.
Exploring the Gardens of Morville
Beyond the immediate Dower House gardens, visitors can also explore additional garden areas adjacent to the nearby hall and church. These offer a broader perspective on the local landscape and horticultural efforts. However, it's worth noting that some areas, particularly steps and paving around ponds, have been flagged as potentially unsafe, with warning signs in place. Despite these minor concerns, the overall garden experience is described as pleasant and well worth a visit for those who appreciate manicured landscapes and serene outdoor spaces.
