Amazing hike & grade 1 scramble in Eryri for you to try! ⛰️ 📍 Moel Siabod = 872m high This amazing route takes you via the grade 1 scramble of the Daear Ddu Ridge to the summit with amazing views of Yr Wyddfa. The scramble is short but being grade 1, use of your hands, a head for heights and some experience is really recommended as you'll need to be able to pick out your own route on the path...

Reviews Summary

Moel Siabod is praised for its stunning summit views and the exhilarating Daear Ddu ridge scramble, offering a less crowded alternative to Snowdon. While challenging, especially with dogs, the sense of accomplishment and varied terrain make it a highly recommended hike for experienced walkers and scramblers.

"A good walk from Dolwyddelam. Through forestry's paths and on open hillside alongside waterfalls to Llyn y Foel, Dear Ddu ridge provodes some easy scrambling to the summit and it's tremendous views."

Mark Hanley

"A thoroughly enjoyable and tough hike with varying terrains and conditions.
The hike is surrounded by incredible views throughout and gives you a real sense of accomplishment when getting to the top.
We went with our dogs via the AllTrails Moel Siabod via Daear Ddu Circular route however, your dog will need some level of experience for this trail as there is some steep to very steep scrambling areas which go on for a while. The first half includes flats, inclines, rocky paths, swampy grass plains, boulder fields and some scrambling. The second half includes the increasingly very steep scramble to the top and steep descent with rocky paths. The scrambling with the dogs was fine on some areas but other sections they needed to be carried for their safety as there's lots of holes in the rocks to trip on or catch the dogs legs in. Your dog will need to be confident and/ or well behaved to take this on to minimise risk. It's also super windy on this scramble and at the peak, so brace yourself. There's a built up wind break to take a minute in."

Ben

"Amazing walk defo not for the faint hearted some real hard scramble to get through before reaching the top but when up there a real good feeling of achievement we took our dog and she is well experienced but still had to carry her in some of the way the views up there are some of the best you will see in snowdonia well recommended 10/10"
